Soden Family Drowning Tragedy 1818 I have been informed by Andrew Kingdon, a conservation officer and journalist in Nova Scotia, of a dreadful tragedy which occurred near the town of Blanche, Nova Scotia with the sinking of the immigrant ship ‘Mary Ann’ with the loss of 122 lives. Amongst these was a Soden family of 8 people, a mother, 5 daughters and 2 sons. An account of the event was written by one Charles Kellett of Virginia, Cavan.
